about

E N G L I S H

"This album is a musical story I composed at the beginning of December, when we got a lot of snow. I was looking out of the window at the frozen landscape and reading poems by my friend Valery Kupka. I decided to set these evening moments to music and read the poems in two languages. Slovak and English together with my daughter Barbara. Each language has its own melody and dynamics. On the album there is also a piece by Ryuichi Sakamoto from the film The Revenant. Sakamoto loved the poetics of Andrei Tarkovsky as much as I did. Moreover, The Revenant is set in winter...
I wish you pleasant listening.

"Tento album je hudobnou poviedkou, ktorú som zložil začiatkom decembra, keď u nás napadlo veľa snehu. Spoza okna som pozeral na zamrznutú krajinu a čítal som si básne môjho priateľa Valerija Kupku. Rohodol som sa tieto večerné chvíle zhudobniť a básne čítať v dvoch jazykoch. Slovenskom a anglickom spolu s mojou dcérou Barborou. Každý jazyk má svoju vlastnú melodiku a dynamiku. Na albume je aj skladba Ryuichiho Sakamota z filmu The Revenant. Sakamoto miloval poetiku Andreja Tarkovského rovnako ako ja. Navyše sa film The Revenant odohráva v zime...
Prajem vám príjemné počúvanie.

about

David Kollar Prešovský kraj, Slovakia

Kollar treats his music with a deep degree of seriousness and personal involvement, as if each and every one of his projects was not only his proverbial brain child but as if it was his actual offspring. He treats his instrument as a gateway between his complex ideas and their audible representation, the same way a sculptor treats the chisel or a painter the brush."
